Gariaband. The Gariaband district administration has intensified its drive against the production and sale of illicit liquor. Acting on the strict directives of Collector B.S. Uikey and under the vigilant supervision of Excise Officer Gajendra Kumar Singh, the Excise Department conducted a major raid in the forested areas near village Indagaon on October 31.

During the operation, officials recovered 150 bulk liters of illicit liquor and other narcotic substances that were illegally stored in the forest. The seized materials were immediately confiscated, and a case was registered under Section 34(2) of the Chhattisgarh Excise Act, 1915, against those involved in the illegal activity.

Strict Enforcement Underway

District Excise Officer Mr. Singh stated that the department is carrying out continuous enforcement operations to eliminate the manufacture, transportation, and sale of illegal liquor across Gariaband. The drive aims to safeguard public health and maintain law and order within the district.

Team Behind the Operation

The successful raid was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Excise Department team, which included:

  • Excise Sub-Inspectors: Nageshraj and Rajatchand Thakur
  • Excise Chief Constable: Chandralol Gaikwad
  • Excise Constables: Pitambar Chaudhary, Manish Kashyap, Sanjay Netam
  • Female City Constable: Kamini Soni
  • Drivers: Govardhan Singh and Kuleshwar Nishad

Their swift action and coordination led to the discovery and destruction of illicit brewing sites hidden deep within the forest.

Continuous Vigilance Against Illegal Liquor

Authorities have reaffirmed that stringent monitoring will continue in suspected areas to prevent any resurgence of illicit liquor manufacturing. The administration has urged citizens to report suspicious activities related to illegal brewing to the nearest Excise Office or police station.

Public Appeal and Awareness

The district administration also plans to conduct awareness campaigns highlighting the health risks and legal consequences of consuming or selling illicit liquor. Officials emphasize that such operations are not only about law enforcement but also about protecting communities from the dangers of toxic alcohol.

The Gariaband Excise Department’s recent operation underscores the administration’s zero-tolerance policy toward illegal liquor trade. With 150 liters of illicit liquor seized, the district continues to strengthen its fight against unlawful activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents.
