Raipur. Farmers in the Kunkuri region of Jashpur district have received a major boost as the Chhattisgarh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, has granted administrative approval for the repair and renovation of the Ib Diversion Scheme.
The state government has sanctioned ₹37,09,63,000 (₹37 crore) for this crucial irrigation project, marking a significant step toward improving agricultural productivity and rural prosperity in the region.
According to the official statement, the completion of the Ib Diversion Project will ensure irrigation facilities for 1453 hectares of land, compared to the existing 3323 hectares. This expansion will substantially enhance water availability, leading to better crop yields, reduced dependency on rainfall, and an overall increase in farmers’ income.
Officials from the Agriculture Department said that the renovation of the Ib Diversion Scheme will greatly improve the efficiency of irrigation systems and strengthen agricultural infrastructure across the Kunkuri block.
Local farmers have long been demanding the repair of this critical irrigation network, which plays a vital role in supporting paddy and other seasonal crops. Responding to their concerns, the government has now taken decisive action to modernize the scheme.
Expressing their gratitude, farmers in Kunkuri thanked Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai for addressing their long-pending demand. They said that the revival of this project will empower their agricultural practices and bring long-term relief from erratic monsoon patterns.
With this initiative, the Chhattisgarh government reaffirms its commitment to farmers’ welfare, sustainable irrigation, and agricultural development across the state. The Ib Diversion Scheme’s renovation is expected to set a strong example of rural infrastructure development aimed at ensuring water security and crop sustainability for generations to come.
