Raipur: November 1st will mark a historic day for Chhattisgarh as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates the state’s new Assembly building, a magnificent structure that symbolizes progress, pride, and cultural heritage.

After 25 years of operating from Rajkumar College in Raipur since the formation of the state in 2000, the Chhattisgarh Assembly finally gets its own grand, modern, and permanent home. This milestone comes during the Silver Jubilee year of the state’s creation — making the event even more significant.

A Living Symbol of Chhattisgarh’s Culture and Identity

Chhattisgarh, fondly known as the “Rice Bowl of India,” has its agricultural essence beautifully embedded into the architecture of this building. The Assembly ceiling features intricate carvings of paddy stalks and leaves, reflecting the state’s agrarian roots.

Adding to its cultural richness, most of the doors and furniture have been handcrafted by traditional artisans from Bastar, showcasing the region’s world-famous wood craftsmanship. This perfect blend of modern architecture and ancient art makes the Assembly not just a government building, but a living museum of Chhattisgarh’s heritage.

A State-of-the-Art Building for the Future

Designed to meet current and future legislative needs, the new Assembly is fully equipped with smart and digital technologies to enable paperless operations. It stands ready to accommodate up to 200 members, ensuring scalability for future expansion.

With advanced digital infrastructure, the building embodies the vision of a “Smart Assembly”—a symbol of efficient, transparent, and technology-driven governance.

An Architectural Marvel on 51 Acres

Built at a cost of ₹324 crore, the Assembly complex spans 51 acres and is divided into three main wings:

  • Wing A: Houses the Assembly Secretariat
  • Wing B: Contains the Legislative House, Central Hall, and offices of the Chief Minister and Speaker
  • Wing C: Dedicated to the offices of Ministers

Every section of the complex has been thoughtfully designed to promote functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability.

Eco-Friendly and Sustainable Design

Sustainability lies at the heart of this architectural wonder. The building incorporates green construction technology, complete with a solar power plant and two rainwater harvesting lakes within the complex.

Meeting all environmental standards, it represents a model of eco-friendly governance infrastructure—a statement of Chhattisgarh’s commitment to a greener future.

World-Class Facilities: Auditorium and Central Hall

The Assembly building includes a state-of-the-art 500-seater auditorium and a 100-seat Central Hall. Both are designed to host official events, discussions, and cultural programs with advanced audio-visual systems and modern amenities.

Its architectural design is a seamless blend of modern functionality and traditional artistry, reflecting the soul of Chhattisgarh in every corner.

A Beacon of Hope for 30 Million Citizens

Beyond its architectural brilliance, the new Chhattisgarh Assembly building stands as a symbol of the hopes, dreams, and aspirations of over 30 million citizens.

Adorned with local crafts, inspired by the state’s traditions, and powered by modern technology, it captures the essence of “New Chhattisgarh” — one that honors its roots while embracing progress.

As the state celebrates this historic milestone, the new Assembly building becomes not just a center of democracy, but a monument of pride, progress, and cultural unity.

With its blend of culture, innovation, and sustainability, Chhattisgarh’s new Assembly building represents the state’s journey from its humble beginnings to a model of modern governance. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicates it to the people on November 1, this landmark structure will forever stand as a testament to Chhattisgarh’s spirit of development, tradition, and pride.
