Team India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has provided a major health update on Shreyas Iyer, who recently suffered an injury scare. Speaking a day before the start of the five-match T20I series against Australia in Canberra, Suryakumar assured fans that Iyer’s condition is stable and improving rapidly.
Although Shreyas Iyer is not part of the current T20I squad, the Indian team in Canberra is in regular contact with both Iyer and the team doctor stationed in Sydney. The 30-year-old batter has now been moved out of the ICU, which has brought immense relief to teammates and fans alike.
“He Is Stable and Talking to Everyone,” Says Suryakumar Yadav
Sharing details with the media, Suryakumar Yadav said,
“When I heard about Iyer’s injury, I immediately called our physio, Kamlesh Jain. Now, Iyer is picking up the phone himself, which means he’s stable. The doctors are with him, and he’s talking to people — so everything seems fine. He will be monitored closely for the next few days.”
The captain also praised Iyer’s fighting spirit, calling him “a rare talent”. Surya added humorously that such incidents are unfortunate but tend to happen to people with extraordinary potential.
“By God’s grace, everything is fine now. We’ll bring him back to India as soon as the series ends,” he assured.
