Raipur: The Chhattisgarh Health Department has taken stern action against a government medical officer caught accepting a bribe. According to official information, Dr. Rajendra Kumar Patel, who was serving as In-Charge Block Medical Officer at the Community Health Center (CHC), Dabhra, in Sakti district, has been suspended on corruption charges.

On October 17, 2025, officers of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Bilaspur, arrested Dr. Patel red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹15,000. Following the arrest, he remained in police custody for over 48 hours. Based on this, the Health Department initiated disciplinary proceedings under the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Classification, Control, and Appeal) Rules, 1966.

An official suspension order was issued by the State Government, making the suspension effective from October 17, 2025 — the day of his arrest. During the suspension period, Dr. Patel’s headquarters will be the office of the Joint Director, Health Services, Bilaspur Division.

As per official provisions, he will receive subsistence allowance under the Fundamental Rules during the period of suspension.

The Health Department has emphasized that strict action will continue against corrupt officials, reinforcing the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards bribery and misconduct in public service.
