Raipur. In a heartwarming and inspiring gesture, Chhattisgarh’s Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Mr. Vijay Sharma turned student for a day as he inaugurated smart classroom facilities across 17 government schools under the Kawardha development block. The event took place at Higher Secondary School, Birkona, in Kabirdham district, marking a new milestone in the digital transformation of education in the state.
The launch ceremony connected children from all 17 schools virtually, allowing them to participate in this historic step toward education digitalization.
Learning Like a Student
In a symbolic act, Mr. Sharma entered the newly inaugurated smart classroom, took a seat beside the students, and actively engaged in digital lessons. Using the smart board himself, he explored topics like the structure of the human heart, plant hormones, and electrochemical batteries.
He also interacted with teachers, discussing the classroom’s operation, functionality, and long-term benefits. Calling it a revolutionary step for the education system, he emphasized that technology should not merely replace blackboards but redefine how students learn.
Transforming Education Culture
Deputy CM Sharma highlighted that this initiative is more than just a tech upgrade.
“It’s about transforming the education culture entirely,” he said.
The introduction of multi-dimensional digital content, 3D visualizations, and interactive learning tools will make complex subjects like science and mathematics more interesting and accessible to every child.
He informed that in the first phase, 17 schools have received this facility, and the remaining 33 schools will soon be added—bringing the total to 50 schools under HDFC Bank’s CSR initiative. Ultimately, 74 schools across the district will be equipped with smart classrooms.
This initiative is expected to improve conceptual clarity, boost exam performance, and expand access to technical education for rural students.

Empowering Teachers and Students
Addressing the teachers, the Deputy CM advised schools to prepare subject-wise weekly schedules, create digital video libraries, and establish a knowledge-sharing network among institutions.
This system, he said, will encourage continuous learning, competition, and collaboration among students.
Call for Discipline and Social Responsibility
Emphasizing the importance of hard work and integrity, he reminded students that there are no shortcuts to success. True education, he said, lies in the courage to stand for what is right.
Mr. Sharma also expressed concern over the rising issue of drug addiction among youth and urged them to take a collective pledge to eliminate it from society.
Holistic Development Initiatives
The Deputy CM announced approval for the construction of sheds in 44 schools across the district. Additionally, a counseling scheme led by senior intellectuals will soon begin to promote mental and behavioral development among students.
“This initiative is not just about academics but about nurturing well-rounded individuals with life values,” he added.
Green Initiative and Teacher Felicitation
As part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, Mr. Sharma planted a tree symbolizing environmental commitment and personal gratitude.
He also honored retired teachers, appreciating their invaluable contribution to shaping young minds and wishing them a healthy and fulfilling future.
The inauguration of 17 smart classrooms under Vijay Sharma’s leadership marks a turning point for rural education in Chhattisgarh. By blending modern technology with traditional learning values, the initiative promises to create a smarter, more connected generation of students ready to lead the digital future.
