Mahasamund. In a decisive move to curb illegal mining and transportation, the Mahasamund district administration has intensified its crackdown under the direction of Collector Vinay Kumar Langeh. Acting on the orders, a joint team from the Mineral Department seized four Hiva trucks found transporting gravel in excess of their permitted capacity in Malidih village, under the Mahasamund development block.
The seized vehicles have been impounded and kept at the Tumgaon Police Station for safekeeping.
According to Mineral Officer Yogendra Singh, strict legal action will be taken against the vehicle owners under Section 21 of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957. He emphasized that transporting or storing minerals without a valid transit pass constitutes a serious legal offense.
The officer also stated that clear instructions have been issued to all mineral leaseholders and transporters, warning them against any violation of mining and transportation rules.
Collector Vinay Kumar Langeh has directed the Mineral Department to continue its special campaign to curb illegal mining, transportation, and storage across the district. The administration reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing the law strictly, ensuring that all offenders face appropriate punitive action.
This move reflects the district’s strong stance against unauthorized mining practices and its determination to protect natural resources from exploitation.
