India’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, is all set to make its grand entry into the electric vehicle market. After years of anticipation, the company has officially confirmed that its first electric SUV — the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara — will launch in December 2025.
The e-Vitara was first showcased at the India Mobility Global Expo, and since then, it has become one of the most awaited EVs in the Indian market. Unlike many competitors that convert petrol cars into electric models, the e-Vitara is built on a purpose-designed electric platform, giving it an edge in performance, safety, and efficiency.
Design and Dimensions: A Perfect Blend of Style and Practicality
The new Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara has been designed as a balanced and modern SUV that retains the brand’s signature practicality. Measuring 4275 mm in length, 1800 mm in width, and featuring a 2700 mm wheelbase, the SUV promises a comfortable and spacious cabin for families.
Its exterior design merges traditional Maruti styling with a futuristic EV look, including aerodynamic contours, sleek LED lights, and bold body lines. The production of the e-Vitara has already begun at Maruti’s Hansalpur plant in Gujarat, a facility known for manufacturing several global export models.
The company plans to export the e-Vitara to over 100 countries, making it one of the most ambitious projects in Maruti’s history.
Battery, Range, and Performance: Impressive Numbers Ahead
Under the hood — or rather, under the floor — the Maruti e-Vitara will come with two battery pack options: 49kWh and 61kWh.
The top-end variant is expected to offer a driving range of up to 500 km on a single charge, placing it among the longest-range electric SUVs in its class.
Maruti Suzuki is also introducing fast-charging technology, allowing the battery to charge up to 80% in just a short span, ideal for both urban commutes and long highway trips.
Performance-wise, the e-Vitara promises smooth acceleration, low noise, and excellent ride quality, making it suitable for both city and highway driving.
Features: Packed with Premium Technology
The Maruti e-Vitara is set to be one of the most feature-loaded SUVs from the brand. Highlights include:
- ADAS Level 2 driver assistance system, featuring automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.
- Seven airbags for maximum safety.
- Ventilated front seats and a fully digital instrument cluster.
- Large touchscreen infotainment system with connected car features and voice command support.
- Over-the-air (OTA) updates for continuous software improvements.
With these features, Maruti aims to bring premium comfort, advanced safety, and cutting-edge connectivity to Indian EV buyers.

Expected Price and Rivals in the Market
The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara will be positioned above the Grand Vitara and the upcoming Maruti Victorious, making it the company’s most expensive production SUV to date.
While Maruti has not yet announced the official pricing, industry sources suggest that the starting price will be between ₹25 lakh and ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom).
At this price point, the e-Vitara will take on established electric SUVs such as:
- Hyundai Creta EV
- Tata Curvv EV
- Mahindra XUV400 Pro
- MG ZS EV
With strong brand trust, wide service network, and competitive pricing, Maruti Suzuki’s e-Vitara could become a game-changer in India’s electric SUV segment.
A Milestone for Maruti and Indian EVs
The launch of the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara in December 2025 marks a historic step for India’s most trusted automaker. As the country shifts towards cleaner mobility solutions, Maruti’s entry into the EV segment could accelerate adoption among mainstream buyers.
With a range of up to 500 km, modern design, and feature-rich interior, the e-Vitara aims to deliver everything Indian customers expect from a reliable, futuristic electric SUV.
