Raipur. On the occasion of National Unity Day (Ekta Diwas), Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai paid a heartfelt tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel by garlanding his statue at Devendra Nagar in Raipur. Remembering the Iron Man of India, the Chief Minister said that Sardar Patel was not only a freedom fighter but also the architect of a united India, whose courage and leadership helped integrate the nation after independence.
“Run for Unity” Spreads the Message of Oneness
As part of the celebrations, Chief Minister Sai joined hundreds of school children, public representatives, and citizens in the “Unity Run” from Shastri Chowk to Sharda Chowk in Raipur. The marathon carried the inspiring message of “One India, Best India,” echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for national integration.
The Chief Minister praised the participants for their discipline and enthusiasm, saying that their collective spirit symbolizes the deep respect Indians have for Sardar Patel and the ideals he stood for.
Sardar Patel: The Iron Man Who United the Nation
Highlighting Sardar Patel’s unparalleled contribution to India’s unity, Chief Minister Sai said,
“Sardar Patel is known as the Iron Man of India because of his extraordinary vision and leadership. His efforts to unite the nation will continue to inspire generations.”
He further stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nationwide “Run for Unity” serves as a reminder of Patel’s legacy and reinforces the importance of unity and integrity among citizens.
‘Unity in Diversity’ – The True Spirit of India
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai emphasized that India’s strength lies in its diversity — in its many languages, cultures, and traditions that coexist harmoniously.
“Unity in diversity is our greatest power. Let us all pledge to uphold this spirit and work together for a stronger, more united India,” he said.
He also administered the oath of national unity to the participants, calling on everyone to contribute toward realizing Prime Minister Modi’s dream of ‘One India, Best India.’

The event witnessed participation from several dignitaries, including Union Minister Jual Oram, Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, MLA Kiran Dev, MLA Purandar Mishra, and Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Iron Craftsmen Development Board Prafulla Vishwakarma, along with a large number of students and citizens.
Their presence reflected the shared commitment to preserving India’s unity, integrity, and cultural heritage, a vision championed by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
